If you’re in the Northern Westchester area, I highly recommend stopping by Bobo’s Cafe in Baldwin Place. First opened in 1949 (I know, right?) this cafe continues to expand due to its popularity, and is opening not ONE but TWO new spots – one in Tarrytown and one in Yorktown.
As you walk into the complex, you’ll find tons of parking space as this in a retail complex, with an apartment complex next to it. The amble parking, along with the ample seating, gives this restaurant/cafe an opportunity to really thrive in its space. I’ve gone here a handful of times, and I was able to find parking and a seat within minutes of my arrival. Even if you go at a busy time, the staff work quickly and efficiently to get your order in so you don’t wait for too long. Usually, whenever I go, there are two people at the cash register, so they work quickly – and I really mean quickly – to beat the rush and get everyone’s food to the tables while they’re still hot. Even on their busy days, the staff is always so friendly and do everything they can to make sure your order is correct.
The food itself!
I’ve been writing so much that I forgot to talk about the food itself! Since I am big breakfast/breakfast sandwich fan, I always go for a breakfast sandwich whenever I can. Bobo’s breakfast sandwiches should be added to your list if you also love breakfast food. The simplicity of the ingredients should not be underestimated – it is still just an egg sandwich with a hashbrown and avocado. It’s in the taste and flavor where the ingredients shine. Eggs cooked your way get added to a perfectly fried, crispy, hashbrown that then gets layered with an avocado that gets smashed exactly how it should be. It then gets bacon (if you choose to have some) and all gets wrapped up in a perfectly toasted, buttery brioche bun or croissant. The sandwich itself takes time to make, and you can tell it gets made with love. The simplicity and satisfaction in the taste often remind me that life doesn’t have to be complicated, comfort and enjoyability are often found in the simpler parts.
As much as I raved about their breakfast, I can also say that their food menu itself is extensive. Lunch options include salads of different varieties, seasonal chicken sandwiches, delicious looking smoothies, wraps, and several other items. I haven’t tried all of them, but who’s to say I won’t?
To pair off a perfectly made breakfast sandwich, Bobo’s offers a ton of drink options. I got the iced s’mores latte, because how else should you be celebrating summer other than making s’mores? This cold latte was topped with foam and graham cracker crumbles and it tasted like summer in a cup. The crisp coldness of the ice cuts through the sugar and feels oh SO refreshing, especially in the heat wave.
Also, what’s breakfast without a pastry? When in Rome right? Or in this case Baldwin Place! Bobo’s offers an assorted variety of bakery items, and I KNOW I have to try them all. I decided to get the chocolate muffin this time cause I felt like the lightness of a muffin just tops the perfect breakfast when you’re on the go. I still need to try their cronuts and cookies, and I know I will be back soon to get them all!
So, what’s stopping you from going to get some breakfast and a coffee at Bobo’s? Maybe I’ll see you around there! And if you go, tell me what you think of the spot, and what I should try next!
